Many people ask me about what they can do to reduce their pore size. While you can’t shrink your pores, you can definitely make them appear smaller by using the right combination of products.
Why do some people have large pores?
Contrary to popular belief, the size of your pores does not typically change over time. Large pores are an indication of how much oil you produced in your teens, when your skin rapidly pumped out the oil. In the process, the walls of the pore stretched wider resulting in larger pores. For those that barely produced oil, their pores still remain tiny to this day.
What can you do to make the pores appear smaller?
The best way to reduce the appearance of large pores is to exfoliate often. By using a combination of both physical exfoliants (Exfoliating Cleanser) and chemical exfoliants (like our Reveal 10) on a regular basis, this will help remove surface dry cells so the opening of the pores are less deep making them look smaller. Another benefit of chemical exfoliants is they get into the pores and clean them out.
In addition, I recommend applying a Vitamin C cream (like our Ester C) at night to increase the levels of collagen and elastin, which will smooth out the skin.
