My New Drapes and Shades from Budget Blinds!

Hi guys! So I recently did a total living room makeover and the aspect of the room that needed the most help, by far, was my window coverings. The blinds didn’t open all the way and the curtains were the wrong length and falling down.  It was a total mess and made the entire room look bad.

One thing I have learned is that when it comes to window coverings, I need to hire a professional. Whenever I try to do it myself, not only does it look bad but it causes me so much frustration in the process (have you ever tried hanging perfectly straight curtain rods, it’s not easy!) But I also didn’t want to break the bank, so that’s where I discovered Budget Blinds. I can say hands down Budget Blinds has been the most outstanding, professional company I have ever worked with in my home. 

The first thing that I want to point out that I really loved is that I got to support a local business. Though Budget Blinds is an international brand with locations all over North America, my local franchise is a family-run business. As a small business owner myself, there is nothing I love more than supporting fellow small business owners.

My design consultant came over, took measurements and guided me through the entire process. He was able to offer his professional opinion and helped me select some options to try out. One feature I wanted to note that is exclusive to Budget Blinds is their DesignINK™ technology.

With DesignINK™ they have hundreds of different fabric pattern options that you can look through, and from there you can customize the prints. You can make the designs bigger or smaller and select custom colors – and even color match to items already in your room. This is one of the coolest, most innovative programs I’ve seen! I choose a few patterned options and some solids as well. I also want to note here that I met the business owner Adam and he could not have been nicer or more professional. I love the personal touch and they made the entire process so easy.

I also decided to switch out my broken wood blinds for some Lutron automatic shades. You guys – these shades are the coolest things ever. They may be one of my favorite things in my entire house. I’ll talk more about these later. 

A couple weeks later my drapery swatches came in. They were nice, large swatches so I could really get a sense of how the fabrics would look in the room (versus those itty bitty 2 inch swatches that most companies give). I decided to go with a heavyweight white linen that was so luxurious and perfect for the space. 

Then once the completed drapes and shades were ready it was install day! They had a team of 2 people come over to handle the entire installation. They removed the old blinds and drapes and put up my new stunning window coverings. The curtain rods are perfectly straight and symmetrical, the curtains are the perfect length and overall they just could not be more beautiful! 

I think that drapes make such a huge impact in a room and can make a space look so much more expensive and luxurious. The Lutron Shades just put everything over the top. These shades can be controlled by remote, an app on your phone or even you smart home device like the Amazon echo – “Alexa, put the shades down!” These are so smooth and quiet you can’t even hear them moving. I have them set on a timer so they go down every night at 8pm and up at 7am. It’s the little things in life and having these automatic shades just bring me so much joy. I love them so much that I am going to hire Budget Blinds to come back and do the rest of my house as soon as possible.
